DocumentDB is a Content Management System to collect, create, maintain and manage documents. It is important to manage documents efficiently, for example technical publications, manuals and training documents. DocumentDB is based on XML where lay-out and content are separated. Some features are:

DocumentDB is XML based and offers an userfriendly on-line XML editor. Several people can work on-line simultaneoulsy on the same documents. XML expertise is not required to write texts and maintain the documents. Documents are created and adjusted on-line as well as off-line. Different off-line XML-editors are used, some examples are Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, MS Office 2003, XML-Spy.
It is possible to produce books with several elements. The content of these elements and the meta data are easy to maintain and are stored in the Data Warehouse.
The reuse of elements can be realized in a userfriendly way, by selecting the elements in a tree structure and assembling books and publications. Documents and elements can be used in different publications, without duplicating data. Elements that are used several times, remain consistent.

An optional module to manage workflows is available. Documents can be transferred between different users for e.g. editing, proofreading, correction and publish purposes.
The software can automatically produce PDF with templates that contain formatting information. Different formatting software and print engines can be used:
